FROM THE ENDS OF THE EARTH (Juan Gana)
If there were no cameras, Chile would be a country beyond belief. Without photographic evidence, no-one would believe that at the very ends of the earth all climates, all colors and all the wonder of nature come together. Chile is far removed from the world’s deeps concerns about the suffering environment. In Chile, waters are still transparent, snow is white, the forest whispers its silence, and fish, birds and wild flowers show forth their true colours. In Chile, there are still unexplored, breath-taking realms that entice photographers, among them George Munro. His incessant wanderings throughout the country have already yielded several books portraying Chile from the moonscape silence of the Atacama Desert to the frozen emptiness of the Antartic. George Munro’s books published by is own company (www.georgemunro.net) as well as various photographic exhibitions, have already won acclaim both nationally and internationally. “My voice is my camera” is George Munro’s personal motto which drives him to explore every byway and backwater of his country. Every journey means another book and more colours slides, each one a perfec glimpse, to add to the thousands in store. George Munro brings to us beautifully the ends of the earth.
